Raja Ampat sits at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the most biodiverse marine region on the planet. More than 1,500 islands spread across West Papua, Indonesia, with reefs so healthy and fish populations so dense that even experienced divers struggle to describe what they see accurately.

A single dive here can deliver manta rays gliding overhead, reef sharks on the walls, pygmy seahorses on sea fans, wobbegong sharks draped across the coral, and nudibranchs in colours that look almost invented. The variety does not let up.

Above water it is equally striking. Limestone karst islands draped in jungle, hidden lagoons, and channels so still they mirror the sky perfectly. Peak season runs October through April with calm seas, excellent visibility, and the region at its absolute best. This is not a destination you visit once.
