Peter’s Sponge Dive Site in

Bangka

The main attraction of Peter’s Sponge is the dugong sightings. Lies on the east coast of Bangka, this dive site is mainly for muck diving lovers. The sandy bottom with seagrass is the ideal environment for dugong to rest. Though barren compared to other dive sites in Bangka, marine life still exists to observe here.

Critters like flamboyant cuttlefish, Ambon scorpionfish, blue-ringed octopus, and ghost pipefish are present here. The seabed is only filled with small coral bommies and giant anemones, but divers only flock to Peter’s Sponge for one thing.

The best times to spot dugongs are during sunrise and sunset, even though their appearance is not guaranteed, as dugongs are known to be shy.
