Rhino City Dive Site in

Ambon

Aptly named after the rhinopias/scorpionfish species, this dive site is another muck dive along with the Twilight Zone, sharing the same sandy slope.

Soft corals and sponges are blanketing the slope, with some critters often hidden between these corals. Look closely for shrimp and crab species such as anemone shrimps, emperor shrimps, porcelain, hairy, orangutan, and arrow crabs.

You can find robust ghost pipefish, short-snout pipefish, and moray eels among the seagrass. The main star of this dive site is the scorpionfish/rhinoplasty. In Rhino City, two species of rhinopias, the weedy Scorpionfish (Rhinopias frondosa) and Eschmeyer’s Scorpionfish (Rhinopias eschmeyeri) can be spotted in yellow, blue, red, peach and brown.
