Ruang Island Dive Site in

Sangihe

One of the most stunning dive sites in Sangihe and dominated by a volcanic cone, Ruang offers a different underwater experience thanks to two black lava flows that run from the summit into the sea.

The black sand and coral blocks play as an intriguing background, with hard corals, sea sponges, sea fans, and black corals in yellow and brown dominating the scenery. Among the marine life found in Ruang are barracudas, reef sharks, dogtooth tuna, groupers, Napoleon wrasse, snappers, butterflyfish, and bannerfish. Pygmy seahorses hide among the Muricella gorgonians, while macro enthusiasts are expected to spot rhinopias, frogfish, and nudibranchs around the coral reefs.

Big fish like dolphins and sharks also often saunter the region, especially in the deeper water.
