Tanjung Papisoe Dive Site in

Kaimana

Tanjung Papisoe was the first place where Mercy’s garden eel was discovered, and this should be enough reason to dive here. But other marine species also take centre stage in this area.

Over 300 fish species—330 species to be exact—were discovered when Dr Gerald R. Allen, a renowned ichthyologist, dived here. This is the home of sweetlips, Napoleon wrasse, fusiliers, longnose emperors, and macro creatures like pygmy seahorses, gobies, and nudibranchs like Spanish dancers. Another endemic species of Kaimana that can also be spotted here are the Triton epaulette shark.
