Wairterang Wreck Dive Site in

Maumere

This dive site is the wreck of a Japanese ship during World War II. Resting in a depth between 12 and 33 meters and about 60 meters long, this vessel is covered in corals, accumulating over 70 years.

The wreck of this ship is the home to some macro creatures such as ghost pipefish, lionfish, nudibranchs, frogfish, batfish, shrimps, and crabs. At the same time, the school of jacks, groupers, trevallies, and fusiliers can often be seen outside the wreck, and occasionally, whitetip sharks can appear curious before moving away.
