Wunderpus is traditionally built from Ironwood and Indonesian Teak but is equipped with all modern safety equipment including life raft, life jackets, marine radio, GPS, fire extinguishers and of course emergency oxygen. On each trip, there is a minimum of 2 crew with EFR training for emergencies.
At 25 metres long and 4.8 metres wide she is very comfortable for the small groups of maximum 8 guests onboard. With a cruising speed of 7-9 knots powered by a 6 cylinder turbocharged engine maintained by our onboard Engineer, Wunderpus can carry you fast and in comfort to some of the best Diving on the Planet.
Our 41KVH diesel generator is more than powerful enough to run our onboard Bauer PE200 compressor and all the air conditioning, lights and charging points for your electrical devices that are available in both public areas and in each of our 4 cabins. We also have a 15 KVH small generator to run the air conditioning and electrics overnight so you can be assured of a comfortable nights sleep. We carry 6 tonnes of freshwater onboard for washing and 4 tonnes of fuel to power our main engine and generator.
Accommodation on Wunderpus consists of 2 Double Cabins with Queen size beds and 2 Double/Twin cabins with a Queen size bed and a Single bunk. All 4 cabins are equipped with AC, spring bed mattresses, en-suite bathroom with hot water shower, charging points for your electrical devices and ample storage.
Wunderpus also has 2 Upper Decks for relaxing and comfortable bean bags for the times between dives, one of these is shaded and one is uncovered so you can work on your tan or look up at the stars at night. For your comfort, we will find a sheltered mooring for overnight stays so you can get a comfortable nights to sleep ready for another day of diving.
We take safety very seriously and all our dive equipment is regularly serviced and of high quality from brands such as Mares, Aqua Lung and Apeks. We also limit group sizes to a maximum 4 Divers per group, Divers with similar experience levels in the same groups and each Diver has minimum safety equipment of surface marker.
All our Dive Staff have 1000’s of dives in Komodo under their belts and know Komodo and its currents very well, so regardless of your experience level you can be sure we will choose dive sites and times suitable for your experience level.
Itineraries for each trip vary depending on Diver experience, local tides and conditions. But you can be assured we will try to show you the best diving Komodo has to offer in the safest conditions. We also try to dive the popular sites outside the times when day trip boats are around…we want to see fish, not Divers right???
